Moving into the future

This building represents the Town of Golden Beach stepping into the future. The civic center was the first phase of a new comprehensive plan to bring better services and amenities to the community. The civic building with a new recreation area at the building’s rear, replaced the former small town hall and police department building that were out of date and too small for either to function well. The building brings together the town leadership, building department, police, and has an emergency bunker for disaster coordination.

The building had been permitted and under construction when I was asked to help the project manager. The project was done in Revit, and my project manager needed someone who could make the internal revisions the Town Manager asked us to do and trust to handle all of the coordination. Most of the second and third floors interiors were redesigned and required a great deal of coordination with the MEP engineers.  There were many meetings with the contractors, MEP, the town manager, and director of capital projects to discuss the coordination issues, construction, and more changes. I was responsible for any construction administration including building department and Fire Marshal  comments.
